Ok, running the beta 1.25.0.5220 and there are no artefacts, hardware transcoding “works” (shows up in the dashboard) BUT my system actually transcodes faster with it disabled.

Software transcoding: speed = 0.8 to 1.1 (no buffering)

Here’s intel_gpu_top running to show there’s plenty of headroom for transcoding.

EDIT: I installed Jellyfin which worked perfectly. As you can see, the iGPU is being worked much harder:

I’m not sure if this is still the right place to report issues in a normal beta. It might be more effective to make a new thread.

I’m guessing that Plex folks will request a sample and logs. I’m curious what media is so difficult to transcode - 4K? HDR ->SDR? Subtitles?

I’m also personally curious - why does that CPU show up as Gen 12 in the screenshot?

It seems to be directly related to transcoding but not the versions mentioned at the top of the post (seems to have been superseded by the latest beta). I will start a new thread.

I’ll also post in the intel_gpu_top unraid thread about the gen 12 issue.

Edit:

Intel 11th Gen Core processors usually have 12th Gen Intel Graphics (I think it’s UHD 750) built in.
