Plex Media Server 32bit to 64bit on Windows Server 2016

Server Version#:1.32.7.7621-871

Help is required please since I am getting errors moving from 32bit to 64bit Windows on my Windows 2016 (Std.) Server running on ESXi Server.

After downloading the latest 1.32.7.7621-871 64bit server and running the install, it detects the 1.32.7.7621-871 32bit version currently installed and then states that there is an error when it attempts to uninstall the 32bit version: -
“Please try to uninstall it manually.
Error code -2147024893
Error message: the system cannot find the path specified”

Running appwiz.cpl and then attempting to uninstall from there does nothing at all.

I downloaded the 32bit version and stopped the Windows service “Plex Update Service”, switched it from Auto startup to manual startup, and then tried running the 32bit installer as administrator - again nothing happened.

The 32bit version of PMS has been running on this server for years and the updates through the Web interface have previously worked fine (as you can see it’s on the latest version), but I think it’s now time to update to 64-bit.

I could completely manually remove the 32-bit version and then rebuild the library, but there are thousands of hours of personal videos I’d have to then manually rename etc. in Plex from things like “2023_0806_134754F” and “REC03014” their current file names.

I tried this a few days ago with the “PlexMediaServer-1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3-x86_64” version and got a similar error, but now there is the “PlexMediaServer-1.32.7.7621-871adbd44-x86_64” the same version as the 32-bit, I thought I’d try again - alias still no joy :disappointed:
