Plex Media Server has been working great on my Ubuntu desktop for years. Then last week I upgraded Ubuntu to 21.10 and now PlexMediaServer cannot see my video files. In the Library’s section, I can point Plex right at the correct drive, but when then is unable to update.
I’ve set the folder owner as plex and the group as plex , I’ve set the permissions to 777.
Any suggestions ? Please, I’m pulling what’s left of my hair out.
if you’re letting the automounter put things in /media – stop. The automounter grants you access when you sign in – excluding Plex – plus it unmounts when you sign out.
If you created new mount point directories for /etc/fstab

Set permissions of 755 on the mount point directory BEFORE mounting the first time
