Plex Media Server consuming drive space

Server Version#: 1.31.3.6868
Player Version#:4.100.1
Something similar is happening with macOS as I saw in other threads; as the title says, plex’s credit detection is consuming all of my drive space and will not release it, or I should say: it did for a little while after updating to the beta version from a recommendation, until I added more content.

Plex seems to be generating about 200GB (only because that was all the space available) in temp files located in /private/var/folders/jc/bgml69ws3ds6yqtqlwmx6z380000gn/T/PlexCreditsDetection-c1927ead-9821-430f-b57a-7b326ef14502

so it is not anymore after adding content? of do you mean it just stopped because there is no more space left

it was fairly steady after the update, I added some content and then I got warnings that my drive was running out of space. I looked at my mac, and saw that it had the ~200GB of plex files in the directory.

my clean-up job has currently removed over 23 million files from the directory.

How did you do this clean-up job please? I have exactly the same problem on my Qnap Nas

First, turn off end credit detection (intro detection is fine)
Second, stop your Plex server (this will allow you to delete files that would have been in use)
Third, navigate to where those temp files are and delete them (this took me 25 hours to complete because it was deleting over 28 million files)
Fourth, restart the machine running PMS to finish flushing temp files after they are deleted
Fifth, start PMS if not set to automatically start with the machine.
