It all started a few weeks ago. Plex simply just stops working, accepting no connections either from apps o web interface. I have to manually stop the services and relaunch it to get it working again, which lasts for a couple of days (sometimes even less).
The services are I have to stop via Activity monitor are:
Plex Media Server
Plex Plug-in [com.plexapp.system]
Plex Tuner Service
Plex Plug-in [como.plexapp.agents.imdb]
I’m running Plex Server 1.13.0.5023 on macOS 10.13.5 (although the problem was still present in 10.13.4). I believe the problem started after a server update. There’s nothing else running on this machine, it’s a mini dedicated to Plex.
I’m attaching my log files should anyone be interested in giving me a hand, it’s slowly turning into a bit of a hassle to have to manually restart everything. Thanks!
So this keeps happening and it’s getting worse by the day. It crashes constantly, but without any error messages and for no apparent reason. I can browse the libraries but nothing will start playing. I have to kill the process and restart Plex.
Seems that being a Plex Pass subscriber doesn’t have any support benefits as no one from this damn company seems to give a ■■■■ about this.

There was a time back a few versions i was having crashes also. Try Drag the closed application to the trash and delete and install manually from: https://plex.tv/downloads

Thanks for the logs. Sorry missed your post.
It was a deadlock which resulted in requests no longer being processed.
For the 1st June failure (which you noticed at 11:53 am on 2nd June, the lockout happened at 23:10 on the 1st.
To investigate deadlocks we need a sample process dump and list of connections plus the logs
I have a number of posts giving the steps for Windows and Linux. I will outline what diagnostics are needed for Mac OS in event of such a hang/lockout
Please use latest version of Plex Media Server - which is currently 1.13.2.5154
When the problem occurs (and please wait for sufficient time before capturing diagnostics eg 10 minutes of requests to the server not getting through) , get the output from a specific browser request on the server. In a browser, go to this url http://localhost:32400/connections?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where you put the server token string instead of the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Copy the displayed output to a text file and save

This resolved my issues
Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it. I reinstalled the app following the procedure from the support article (backed up the database, etc.). It’s a bit more stable now, I only had to relaunch it once within the last 5 days.
However, yesterday after watching a few TV show episodes on a Samsung Smart TV (Series 6, latest version of Plex installed), the server crashed while trying to load the next episode.

Wait 2 minutes and repeat steps 2 and 3 capturing a second set of /connections list and process sample.
Restart the server and capture the Plex Media Server zipped logs
Attach all zips to a forum post here
Thanks
Ok, got it. So I have to wait until the next crash in order the capture the process dump and upload it here. I’ll stay on top of it, by my calculations it should crash sometime this afternoon.

Thanks a lot for your help.
process dump + /connections + logs zip (with debug logging enabled) /connections output to be copied to text file and sent to me by private message in case it contains security tokens
As mentioned in the other forum threads that I linked, the cause of the deadlock has been identified - however the fix is still being looked into. Once this is complete - it will then go through the release QA cycle before release as beta.
I will try and get an early development build to make available
Thank you @sa2000, at least I now know I’m not the only one having this issue and that you’re looking into it. I never run betas but let me know if I should install the latest one to test.
Plex Media Server version 1.13.4.5251 has just been released as beta. It has fixes for two deadlocks following investigations from diagnostics provided in this forum thread
