Approximate time of crash was 15:45
Another crash at 21:40. Logs attached.
One thing I am noticing is it is typically crashing when I am accessing it via ios.
Same issue. Seems to crash when I am using ios and it will start to buffer. Have there been any updates on this?
Also having this problem. Got so fed up I even wiped Windows and did an entirely fresh installation of Plex setting up as a new server. Same problem.
I have setup a combination of TriggerCMD, Tautulli, IFTTT and Siri Shortcuts as well as using PMS as a service to be able to get Siri to remotely kill the PMS on my server and it auto restarts when I kill it with the PMS as a service.
Its the most convenient way i could do it whilst having this issue. Can we at least get a comment to what is going on here because Plex should not be crashing on fresh installs.
I’ve been looking into it this evening and there are dozens of reports of crashes with the newest versions here and on reddit. Clearly something is very wrong with these builds. Plex claimed the latest beta update would fix it but it crashed on me within an hour of installing the latest beta.
I’ve downgraded to an older one now and will see how that goes.
I’m on macOS and the last 2 versions have been randomly crashing for me as well…
As long as the IOS device downloads the media file and watches/listens to it local it doesn’t seem to cause the crash of the PLEX Server. It would be nice to get a status on this situation because it is very inconvenient, since even playing music will crash the server.
Downgrading to Version 1.18.3.2156 fixed the issue for me entirely.
Hopefully we get some acknowledgement of this issue soon as it’s an issue affecting many and the common thread is 1.18.5/6.
I’m downgrading to 1.18.3.2156 as well. See if this issue resurfaces. At this point I have 2 instances running 1.18.6 on 2 different NAS models, both exhibiting the same behavior; becoming unreachable and I have to restart the Plex instance.
Same issue here as well but I don’t have any iOS devices, only android and PMS is on Windows 10 computer. Crashed at least once a day the last few days. On latest version of PMS.
Yes it is the issue noticed from iOS users.
It has been fixed already.
See release note for Beta Plex Media Server 1.18.6.2368
The description does not probably cover all manifestations but this is the issue I can see in your server logs
Thanks @sa2000, i have installed the Beta and will report back to see if anymore crashes happen.
The crashing persisted with the latest beta for me. Crashed within an hour of installing it and another 5 or 6 times that day before I gave up and reverted to a .3 release. And it crashed often overnight when nobody was using it, or browsing any preplay screens. There’s definitely a deeper issue than just navigating preplay screens going on, and it definitely isn’t fixed in the latest beta.
Sounds like a different issue. Let me have server logs captured after the restart following a crash
It crashed so much I rolled back. It was completely unusable. There are numerous other posts on the forums here and on the reddit sub about the same issue though. People are still reporting it in non-trivial numbers.
For example:

Crashes for me also when my Vizio smart tv’s connect other devices seem to be ok i downgraded to 1.18.5.2309 and that works fine.
Add me to the Vizio TV app causing PMS to crash without fail every single time I attempt to launch Plex. I finally had to uninstall PMS 1.18.5.Whatever the most recent release is in favor of a a version from several updates ago! Sorry it’s 3am and I’m irritated as hell at having to chase this issue. The past few updates seem to go from bad to worse!
