Plex Media Server Crashing

Btw make sure you change server version updates to ask me or each night it will install the newest again if its set to auto.

I have posted in the forum threads you linked with info on fixes for the issues users have provided logs for

Two specific issues
See

and

i tried to filter thru the 2 threads but what i got was its related to a igp im not using a igp on my plex setup at all. Using a older 2600k with 16gigs of ram and a amd 480 i even tried to install the igp driver won’t install.

The links I posted were for two different issues - one relating to crashes when hardware transcoding and the other for a deadlock. The one for hardware transcoding gave 3 different causes for the crashes

Anyway - the deadlock was resolved in 1.18.6.2368 as you would have found when reading the linked posts. Your server is still running 1.18.5.2309-f5213a238

If you continue to have deadlocks or crashes after updating to 1.18.6.2368 or the later beta released today 1.18.7 - please provide server logs

i might of repied to the wrong thread i was running 2368 and crashes anytime a vizio smart tv connects to it 2368 does not fix that going back to 2308 did tho.

Add me to the list of Plex for Vizio (v3.13.13) app users that cause PMS to instantaneously crash (on a brand new Win 10 Pro 18363 install).

Plex Server 1.18.7.2415

Rolled back to 1.18.3.2156 and server is stable.

(No logs included because I feel this problem has been adequately reported.)

And me,

last 4 versions crashing randomly, hard to pin down the triggers, but IOS remote client seems to be some of it.

Currently on Version 1.18.7.2415 (on Win7 Enterprise.)

PS.

for what it’s worth, I have the same version of plex running on a Qnap NAS box without issue.

As you are running windows, I could analyze any dmp files you may still have that did not get uploaded. I cannot find any crash reports uploaded from your server

Look into the Crash Reporting directory in the Plex Media Server app data and within the “PLEX MEDIA SERVER” directory for the release that was crashing

zip any dmp files you find and attach - alternatively go back the latest version and get me logs and any dmp files you find after a crash

Logs please and if any dmp files have not got uploaded - zip and include

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/?_ga=2.180042339.675918454.1581415452-653944848.1564865555

dmp files would be within the app data area in “Crash Reports” folder and subfolder for the release

OK, this is the last two crash files.

You have disabled the plex media server debug logging - see my linked support article for reporting issues

I have not alalyzed the crash dump yet but if it is a new issue, then I will not be able to progress it without the server debug logs

However, there is a possibility it may have been the crash that we have just released a fix for today in new beta release 1.18.7.2434

  • Certain clients could make a request that would crash the server (#11154)

Release notice here Plex Media Server - #318 by gbooker02

So I suggest you try this beta as I won’t have a chance to confirm if it the same crash until later - if the crashes continue, please enable debug logging and crash reporting and then restart the server and wait for the next crash. After that crash, restart the server and collect the logs and zip any dmp files you find in the crash reports directory for this version

Please try the new 1.18.7.2434 as it addresses a crash relating to some smart TVs

See my post above this

The update is not showing up at http://plex/tv or with some locations via the Server update.

Australia it showing up for me, is it a staged update?

May be there is a cache issue. could you check again https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/

and logged in with plex pass account and the Plex Pass toggle. If still an issue, enable browser dev console F12 and network and preserve log option and try again and save all as .har file and send me by Private message together with details of your public IP and territory

All good now, had another look and it’s up to date.

Cheers

I am running Plex version 1.18.7.2434 and my server still crashes anytime an iOS client tries to connect. I’ve attached the logs and Crash Reports.

I can see some crashes relating to the intel graphics hardware - see this post and I suspect your problem to be intel drivers

I will check other crashes - in case they are not only due to hardware transcoding.
The post I am linking gives two reasons for the crashes - the 3rd is already fixed. The two remaining are if running the Plex Media Server headless / as service or through RDP and the other which is likely your issue - is intel driver version - the post shows a matrix of versions seen to crash in the intel driver

@pusta80 all the dmp files are for crashes in the intel dll igdumdim32.dll

My server has been crashing constantly too. Windows 10, Nvidia GPU.

Thanks for the dump and logs. Appears to be crashing when processing request to play back “Star Wars Rebels - S3 E11 - Ghosts of Geonosis (1)” - I am referrting it to our development team
