Plex media server data - Seagate Personal Cloud

Server Version#: 1.32.1.6999
Player Version#:

Hi, my mac mini which was running my plex media server just died.

So temporarily, at least, I have decided to try to run the plex media server on my Seagate personal cloud NAS drive.

I have managed to download and install the server, but I can. not figure out how to migrate the metadata for the server. I tried to follow the path to the folder from the support article https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/ but dont know what a rainbow container is and using mac, so not even sure I can enter a command line. There doesnt seem to be any folders on the actual drive refering to plex, just my media folders.

Is it possible to migrate the plex metadata to the Seagate personal cloud server, if so how,

Please help, this is driving me insane and there doesnt seem to be anything online to help me

Migrating your settings from a Mac to Seagate is not going to be easy. Our support articles are meant for migrating to another machine using the same OS.

It would be easier to just recreate your server from scratch on the Seagate.

Hey thanks for coming back to me. I have actually just started recreating my server from scratch as you suggested.

If possible, I’d still like to know where plex is saving the metadata on the seagate personal cloud though as I cant see any reference to it or a folder on the drive.

Also, is there a way to install plugins on this server as I can’t find the plug in support folder currently. I’d like to install a subtitle plug in.

Thanks

I’m not sure exactly but that article you mentioned has the info. You enter command lines from the terminal app.
