How to preserve metadata when changing my mac?

Hello, could you please help me? This is my configuration.

Plex server version: Versión 1.18.6.2368
Imac os version: Sierra 10.12.6.

  • I have my plex server installed on an imac and all files are on an external hard drive.

  • I had to manually modify the information (metadata) of almost all the files, title correction, synopsis, covers …

Now I need to format my imac (I always format the imac “from scratch”) and then I will reinstall the plex media server application. Years ago I did it and I lost all those changes that I had made in the information of the movies, the (metadata).

How can I do so that these changes are not lost and then retrieve them in the installation of the application in the new imac.
Do I save them somewhere and then recover them in the new installation?
What I can do ??
Thank you!!!

David

This support article describes how to move a Plex Media Server installation from one system to another. I’ve done this and it works well.

Hi.
Thank you very much for your help, all right. The modifications that I had made in the information of the films have not been lost, I have kept all the metadata.
Just one suggestion: plex is fantastic, wonderful but every time you have to make some adjustment it is difficult, convoluted … It is not easy for a user who does not have some previous knowledge of computer science. It is not easy, intuitive. You have to dedicate a lot of time to the configuration if you want to take advantage of your plex pass and use all the good options it brings.
However I will continue to learn, your help was very fast and the problem was solved. Thank you very much and greetings from Seville, Spain.
David. (sorry for my English!!!)

No problem, glad it worked for you. And your English is fine  .
