"Plex Media Server.exe" vanished

Hi,

I’ve been running plex server for a good 10 years I reckon, and on the current PC for at least one year. (windows 11). I’m pretty sure I have auto updates switched on.
At some point today or yesterday the main plex server exe just vanished.
add/remove programs shows:

with no option to repair my install.
the file directories and other files are there:

I really really don’t want to have to rebuild from scratch.
What’s my best option?
install over the top, or uninstall then re-install?

does anyone have any idea what may have happened?
I’m not running aggressive anti virus - just Windows Defender

this post from 5 years ago:

suggests that a download & re-install should offer to repair.
But there’s also a suggestion that I should use the cached update package, in my case that’s:
“PlexMediaServer-1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8-x86_64.exe”
in the folder:
C:\Users\jheat\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates\1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8\packages

all suggestions as to the best route gladly accepted!!

Thanks,

James

In the end I decided to try installing the already downloaded update package over the top, which worked OK.
I really shouldn’t to do this though!
