Plex media server is double-streaming TV shows (file info shows twice the same path)

I’m suffering the same issue as the following thread:

Server Version#: 1.15.5.994 Player Version#: 2.33.1.979-x4087ea7 It happens very often that an Plex reports that an episode has 2 files even though there is only one file. Shouldn’t it be super easy for PMS to filter out duplicates when it sees they have the exact same path/filename?

The issue started occuring a little over a week ago. However, I was unable to find a solution for the double-pathing.

Attempting to manually remove and re-insert files would be a chore as a very large number of files were added recently and the double-pathing seems to occur randomly in manually-imported files, but occurs every time Sonarr adds a new episode from current seasons.

If you told Sonarr to trigger a library update in Plex, disable the automatic and the periodic library update in Plex.
Otherwise it can happen that 2 update threads are running in parallel, which then results in these doublettes.

From what you’ve told me, I checked and plex library updates were both active on Sonarr and Plex media server in auto mode.

I’m going to try disabling the library update from Sonarr first and see if that helps. However, is there no way to fix the double-streamed files without removing them from their folders and re-adding them?

So, new batch of downloads came in yesterday, courtesy of Sonarr.

Unfortunately, it seems like turning off library updates didn’t fix the issue. My new downloads are all double-streamed.

I turned off library scans triggered by Sonarr, as well as the periodic library scans in Plex, keeping only the automatic library scans. No dice.

I’m open to any other suggestions to fix this.

Try it the other way around. Let only sonarr trigger the update.

Done, disabled library updates in Plex and enabled only Plex update from Sonarr. Next update is on friday.

Today’s downloads didn’t seem to have the double-streaming issue.

I’ll keep watch over the problem over the next few weeks, but I think we’ve found a solution.
