This seems to happen on and off. It shows two files in plex where only 1 exsist in the directory.
Moving the file out of the dir, updating library and copying it back in does seem to fix it, but why is this happening in the first place.
It happens on randomly on both TV shows and movies.
This can happen if two scans are triggered simultaneously.
Only use one method to trigger a scan of your library.
If you use automation (Sonarr et al) to add media to plex, disable Plex’s own Automatic and periodoc library updates.
If you have Periodic updates enabled, disable the Automatic update and vice versa.
If you trigger library updates manually, there is no point to leave either of the above activated.
Just thought id update this.
I didnt know that Sonarr could handle the library update, so i was using just plex which was causing the issues.
Ive disabled all auto updating on plex and instead switched to Sonarr forcing the update.
Touch wood, so far so good and ive not had any duplication yet.
If this solves the issue then it would point to it being a bug with plex.
