Plex Media Server is randomly quitting

At random intervals, the Plex Media Server instance running on my Windows 10 pc, will quit. This has been going on for a few days now.

Things I’ve tried:

  1. Scanned by System32 and SysWOW64 folders for all of the DLLS mentioned here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/206910047-Windows-Repeated-crashing-of-Plex-Media-Server (none found)
  2. Removed Malware Bytes (had installed this recently)
  3. Updated Plex
  4. Restarted Computer

Computer:
Windows 10 Enterprise Insider Preview
Evaluation Copy. Build 16232.rs_prerelease.170624-1334

Plex:
Version 1.7.6.4058

I’ve included copies of the log files and crash dump contents, but I didn’t see anything indicating what might be causing the crash.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you.

Plex Media Server crashing when library changes are made and automatic library updates enabled
It appears to be on recent windows 10 builds - seen on Windows 10.0.16226 and 10.0.16232

It has been referred to the development team
Until there is a fix - either windows or Plex Media Server, please disable automatic library update in Server Settings

Thank you so much for your help. Does the option to ‘Update my library periodically’ also cause the crash? Curious if I need to disable automatic updates and periodic.

No

Only the notifications from windows for automatic library updates that is giving the crash

I am having the same problem, however turning off auto-update doesn’t help (they were turned off anyway).

The crashes are when getting notification of a change - all cases seen so far have been for the automatic library updates. In theory it could also be for other changes - eg when adding bundles / plugins (channels)

could you get logs please so I can see what it is triggering it.
Ensure server has debug logging enabled and after restarting after a crash - get the logs

See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703-Reporting-issues-with-Plex-Media-Server

I believe the logging was turned on the whole time… hopefully this helps.
thanks

Shortly after I uploaded the logs in the previous post, it crashed again, so I added the newest log

The last crash report I have happened at Jul 15, 2017 23:28:08 for a Plex Media Server.exe process that was launched at 20:06:46 and during which Automatic Library Updates was still enabled

Check the Automatic Library Updates setting on the server settings / library and restart the server after making the change

MY bad. I was completely wrong. I thought everyone above was referring to the auto-update of the Plex software, not the library. I turned it off, and will monitor it.

There is feedback from a user that the crashes stopped after updating to windows insider track build windows 10.0.0.16237
