Plex Media Server keeps regenerating video preview thumbnails for content every night

Hi,

I’ve had this issue for a while now but only looking to fix it now.

Basically if I logon to my Plex server around the time maintenance tasks are run I can see that my server regenerates some video preview thumbnails for some library items.

In my Library settings I do have “Generate video preview thumbnails
as a scheduled task and when media is added” enabled. Is it expected that these are supposed to be regenerated? I’m not doing anything to the files to trigger a rescan.

Additionally it seems to be only certain library content which is affected.

I have debug logging enabled, what do I specifically need to look for which causes this trigger?

I don’t do them as a scheduled task.
I only have it run when new media is added.

It should be going through your media, only a few at a time to generate thumbnails.

Do your logs show multiple cases of a specific file being re-thumbnailed ?
