We have several lagging issues with MKV files.
The files are on a Windows 10 x64 with the latest updates,
The client is a Samsung smart TV.
The lag seems to have started with the latest update. It keeps buffering every 20 seconds.
What could be the issue ?
All files have have difference in the codec and settings that were used to generate the video audio or subtitle streams. Would need more details. The plex media info and the smart tv logs would be helpful
This looks like the version number of the local web app in browser not the smart tv app. Are you having issues in other apps like the web player, or just the smart Tv app on your Samsung?
You may be right, it seems to be only with this smart tv… 
I’m not sure there is an update available for the TV, it’s like 4 or 5 years old…

That is pretty old but what model is it? It should have the model number and version number of the app in the About section of settings

That is a 2014 TV so would not be a version of our official app which was only created in 2016. It is likely The Samsung SmartHub app that was made by a third party who no longer updates it. Since it is was connecting to the server at all you likely have the latest version of it since i believe a connection issue with newer versions of server was the last thing he updated in 2020.
Do you know if the video is transcoding or direct playing? ( it should say in the dashboard of your server.

I have more information, when it is Direct Play, it buffers each 5 sec. When it’s transcoding, it buffers every 20 seconds. But this is only with MKV from a BlueRay. If it’s an MKV from a DVD, no problem at all.
