Plex Media Server Not Recognized

Server Version#: 1.25.9.5721-965587f64
Player Version#: ???

I used to use Plex all the time, I haven’t started it in a year or two, but I tried last night and while the server is running locally with no problems, it is not recognized by the player. Everytime I open the player nothing is under “Your Media” it is just a download link to the server. I tried everything possible: I uninstalled, reinstalled the server, logged out then logged back in, nothing has gotten the player to recognize a server is running. Did plex just remove this functionality? You are not allowed to stream your own media anymore?

Which player? The one in the web browser or some other app?
If the latter, try the web app first.

This state is usually solved by this procedure: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

Also make sure your firewall settings have been updated on your machine and actual internet firewall to allow plex in and out. I have been playing around with linux and firewalld has it locked down out of the box with pre-canned plex rules to re-enable it and was running into that myself. Couldn’t get local to work, let alone the internet version.

While we are at it, can you post a bit about your host os (Linux, Mac, Windows)? If Linux, what flavor and version?
