Server Version#:1.26.0.5715-8cf78dab3
Player Version#: Samsung 5.36.1 - Plex for Samsung - 19_MUSEL_UHD
I have had Plex running until earlier this year, when a TV upgrade killed all the apps on the TV. I am trying to setup again. But I am literally going round in circles.
If this is a new setup or a do-over, make sure to do the setup steps using the local IP address of your server. If you’re on the same machine, open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser; otherwise use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web (the latter will only work if you’re in the same subnet as the server!).
The hosted version of Plex Web (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) has no means to know on what machine you’ve installed your server nor the capability to link your server to your account.
I have the same problem. My old Windows PC was my server but I replaced it with a More modern desktop with Windows 11.
I download Plex Media Server just fine. Sign in just fine. It does not give me the option to stream my own media.
Very frustrating.
May give up.
Not clear which server settings you mean, I don’t see the text “Server Settings” anywhere, but I am not locked out from being able to access Plex Media Server. And there are no server error messages appearing anywhere.
I am beginning to wonder if the facility to watch my own content, locally stored on my PC, has been removed since I used it last.
I want to be able to view local content (from the PC) on the TV. The TV can do it itself, with limitations - it can’t remember how far through the content when I stop watching - but I can’t find where to tell Plex where the local content is.
I managed to get “+ Your Media” to appear in the left column of http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/ by going to Plex Web—Debug, and clicking [Restore Defaults] - something was stopping it from appearing.
So, now click on “+ Your Media” to get started - and I am asked to [Get Plex Media Server] yet again. So, I downloaded it (for about the 5th time), asked it to uninstall, restarted the computer, then asked it to install. After installation, I ran it, and ended up in exactly the same place - asked to Get Plex Media Server yet again!
I recommend you perform the procedure in the linked support article.
From all you describe you’re accessing the bundled version of Plex Web but are not considered the owner of the server. Uninstalling and reinstalling won’t change that. After completing the procedure you should be able to relink your server to your account and either access existing libraries or create new ones.
tom80H, so sorry, but when I read your previous answer, I read the support article, but I could see no connection to what I wanted to achieve, and I was getting no relevant error messages, so I assumed that you had misunderstood my question.
But I tried it anyway - and of course, you were correct. Simply removing a few registry settings, and restarting the local version of Plex Web App, cleared everything up! The local media was easy to set up, and the TV connection was also simple.
So - deep apologies for not listening carefully enough… and thanks for solving the problem
I finally got my system to work.
Uninstalled Plex.
Edited out ALL references to plex from the registry.
Reinstalled Plex.
Started from scratch with my libraries. It takes time but it worked for me.
Good luck.
