I am using a MyCloud Home to make a simple offline server.
I haven’t event started into the offline part yet, so I might be back…
I am just simply trying to get folders to work in windows file explorer.
Now I have read many topics on this, and the folders work - kinda.
First, I setup the server - it created its own folder and insider are other folders that are specific for the media so that the plex server can see them - I understand all of that.
Second, I am able to see the drive on my Windows 10 pc - it shows up in the file explorer. There are only 2 shared folders that I can see - PUBLIC and TIME MACHINE BACKUP. When I go into the PUBLIC folder, it is empty. When I login through the WD web interface, I can see the PLEX folder and I can see a few movies that I have added to the Shared Movies folder.
I want to speed up transferring files… In File Explorer I cannot see the Shared Movies or Shared Tv Shows so I can add files that way.
Am I missing something?
It is slow using the web interface, and there is a 5GB limit on the file size.
When I am in the web interface, there are no features to turn on sharing or any other settings - I understand this is a basic system for home users.
Anyone have experience with this?
Anyone able to use the file explorer to add files?
I couldn’t get that software to load and work properly either. I figured it was outdated or something. Do you have it working ok on a windows 10 machine?

Exactly the same issues here. Cant see the Plex folder, the web interface is rubbish and I downloaded the WD Discovery app and it just hangs at 18% on install.
No help I’m afraid but kind of glad its not just me!
Yep - I don’t know what it is supposed to look like working.
It’s funny cause I used someone else’s laptop, and they could see the file system on the WD home.
I just want to drop and drag things in windows explorer.
I’ve managed to fix the file explorer issue. If you install the WD Discovery App it then shows. The trick to installing that is to accept the option to share analytical data. If you click do not share, it hangs at 18%. If you allow it installs fine, but does take a while.
This is a bit crafty as WD are aware as its been posted several times since 2021 on their support pages, but they appear to be ignoring it as a way to force you to share data.
Once installed you can drag and drop it appears. Not quite the same as a mapped drive but better than the web interface.
It is weird for sure. Mine didnt hang every, but also didnt work.
I freed up some space on my HD before trying to install it again (I was dangerously low on space and you cant tell the app to install on a different drive) and now it is working.
I was able to get the file system working so I could copy over files directly.
the speed difference was amazing.
