So I installed PMS on my Nvidia Shield Pro and added folders via the app. Everything worked…or so I thought. I have a season of a tv show added but Plex only reads 4 episodes. They’re all the same file type. Other shows aren’t even being seen. Today I turned everything on and Plex wouldn’t even play anything. Nothing changed from yesterday. I thought Kodi was a giant piece of crap. Plex is worse. At least Kodi saw and read everything. Also, my external drive is plugged directly into the back of the shield with all of the files inside the made Nvidia Shield folder as directed. At times, Plex says I’m not connected to the internet. I shouldn’t have to be once it’s set up and the files are added since everything is direct. All files and folders are shared and as far as i know, all settings are also what they should be. What a POS program!!!
If your media files are attached to the Shield, and if you will only watch them on that Shield, I would stick with Kodi. The main benefits of Plex is watching your stuff on multiple devices… if you won’t be doing that, Kodi is much more straightforward.
I considered that option. We have other tv’s in the house on the network and Plex was a good option in terms of being able to download the app. Kodi is a tad more difficult. I’ll give it another shot though. Thanks for the tip!
For either app, naming your shows the way the app prefers will help with matching. There are lots of threads on that, give it a search. There are also apps like Filebot which help to automate that process if you have a lot to get through.
Thank you for the info on filebot. I have almost 400 movies and about 10 different tv series, not to mention thousands of songs lol… Long time to get through all of that.
