Plex Media Server on QNAP TVS-682

Server Version#: 1.16.3
Player Version#:

Hi all

I have been running plex media server on my QNAP TVS-682 for many years and its been absolutely fine. I’m a firm believer in that if it ain’t broke then dont fix it. However, I was forced to eventually do a firmware upgrade on the NAS and my PMS stopped working. I then upgraded to the latest version of QNAP and it still doesn’t work. I keep getting the error of The server “Home-NAS” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again."

Please help - I only ever use the NAS for Plex and now its an expensive brick…

  • What firmware version are you on now?
  • If you browse towards http://<IP_OF_QNAP>:32400/identitydo you then see a screen with some xml code in it?
  • What url are you using in your browser, against your QNAP, or are you using https://app.plex.tv/desktop ?

Hi

I’m on version 4.3.6.0993

I’m getting this:

This site can’t be reached

192.168.1.200 refused to connect.

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I’m trying to access it via the IP address and aap.plex.tv, but neither will work

Thanks

http://192.168.1.200:32400/identity

And if not working, try:
https://192.168.1.200:32400/identity

And lastly, what’s the IP Address of the workstation you are trying from?

Both links don’t work - same error message

I’m on 192.168.1.147

Hmmm, okay, then log time

Do you know howto grab the PMS server logs manually?

No, I’m afraid not…

Okay, download and install this:

Then a share will be created, that you can access from your workstation.
In that share, navigate to Plex Media Server and download the directory named Logs
and upload it here

OK, I think I have done this now.

What do you mean by download the directory named Logs and and upload it here? There’s a whole bunch of files - do you want to see all of them? Or just a specific one?

Thanks

To be sure, all of them, and in a compressed zip file please

Logs.rar (749.1 KB)

Thanks - hope I’ve done this correctly…

You have a broken database :frowning:

From the logs:

Jul 25, 2019 22:36:09.560 [0x7fd252670740] ERROR - SQLITE3:(nil), 11, database corruption at line 64757 of [bf8c1b2b7a]

Try this:

Thanks for the diagnosis!

Will try the fix …

Hi Dane

I’m afraid that my knowledge of the QNAP NAS which is LINUX is very limited. How do I actually fine / get to the Back Up directory. The article gives the path, but I just don’t know how to do this. In windows, i would have been OK… Thanks

The share that was created with my small qpkg before, contains a directory named “plugin support”

wow… amazing! It’s working again. Thanks so much! Saved my life just in the nick of time before the wife and kids come back to discover there’s no exercise vids (wife) and cartoons (kids)! Thanks man!
