There was no DSM update not for a few months.
When you uninstall the package, you lose nothing.
I store the package (software) in one area.
I store your server instance (everything about your media and server) in the Plex share (on DSM 5 & 6)
When you uninstall, I only remove the software.
When it re-installs, it looks for an existing “Plex” shared folder.
If it finds one, it uses it without further investigation.
It will only create new if it doesn’t find one. If it does create, it creates on the same volume PMS (the software) is installed on.
I uninstalled PMS then installed the one available on DSM then let it prompt me to update did the update and Remote playback seems a tad better it buffers quicker now.

I am starting to suspect local network issues but in the absence of more data, I can’t be definitive.
There is one other way to test. Use the mobile device’s web browser for the playback. Let’s see if it’s the app or not. Maybe we can eliminate that as one of the variables.
Attached new log, I have not changed anything network wise. this issue started about 2-3 days ago.
You may see a few playbacks. seems users are trying to watch stuff. some successfully and others not able to. I am able to start playback, but it doesn’t get far on my remote laptop.
Thank you for those different playback attempts. They helped me see what was going on at the next layer down.

This has every indication of network issue between the server & player.
Is this server in an environment where there are some additional infrastructure IT equipment ? (something between the server and the actual ISP )
I have the NAS Attached to An ASUS RT-AX58U and there is An arris modem no ISP rented hardware.
I did notice this error message in the console on plex

That IP is the Router.
I cannot explain – but I’ve seen it in several cases – There is something about these “AI Mesh” wifi devices which drives PMS nuts.
I think it has something to do with their automatic channel provisioning (backhaul).
In a nutshell, it gets it wrong. It is trying to provision for Full Duplex operation on two different frequencies simultaneously and doesn’t understand how PMS needs it.
Normal WiFi is simple half-duplex (one transmits at a time). With good signal and enough channel with (40 Mhz or 80 Mhz), it will scream along.
yeah I would say that would be the newest addition to the network is another AI mesh router but Its very odd that the NAS has issue with the wifi even though its connected with a wire.
Also Remote playback seems to at least start now. it has a bit of a delay now it used to not. but at least it works sorta. some users report no playback still but not sure if there is anything I can do about that.
If I disable Local network discovery (GDM) will this prevent that error from showing up?
and or will this effect my local playback at all?
