Starting today, I’ve been experiencing random service crashes, unfortunately, I had verbose logging turned on so I guess that means that I can’t upload logs due to sensitive information? I will however include the screenshots from the windows event viewer that recorded the plex crashes. I looked around the plex forum and haven’t found anything close to what I’m experiencing, can someone please help me?
My PMS crashes nearly daily as well. I am so tired of this. It use to be because of port exhaustion and IDK if it still is that. I have the latest PMS version and Windows 10. Nearly every day I have to restart my entire PC for plex to work again.
this is so freaking frustrating. every single day it’s off and i have to restart. missing all my recordings. i am on the verge of reinstalling windows and plex.
You guys having any luck? Same thing with me. And I’ve had to downgrade to 1.24.4.5081 and it’s a bit better but still crashes every two days now instead of every 5-15 minutes on the latest versions, even on the betas. One of the ways I can see if it will potentially stay up for a while is if my youtube matching agent works. It doesn’t work/match on anything >=1.24.5.5173 and will just spin refreshing metadata forever when it’s probably crashed something. Also, the big problem I have is that Plex doesn’t fully crash…it just “freezes” and cuts off everyone’s streams, local and remote. Then I have to manually kill it AND the plexupdateservice.exe and restart. Saying I’m frustrated over the last few weeks is quite the understatement.
If anyone wants to looks through my logs, I’ll gladly zip them up now that I’ve disabled verbose logging…and if someone tells me how to upload attachments here, haha.
I’ll throw this in, not because I understand all the issues here, but because something I stumbled on fixed my problem a year or so ago.
Turns out that Plex Server on Windows uses MS communications dll’s, and these can be compromised by other background apps. In my case it was a VPN app I’d installed, Easy-Hide-IP. I didn’t connect its installation to my Plex problems so I lived with it for a long, frustrating while. A post on this forum listed dll’s known to cause problems, and there it was: my VPN!
Uninstalled and the problem disappeared. Installed a new, non-interfering VPN (PIA) and all has been well since.
