Plex Media Server crashing on Windows 10

Server Version#: 1.25.9.5721

PMS has been crashing randomly for a long time, numerous updates haven’t resolved the issue

Nothing in Windows Event Viewer offers any explanation and all the Plex Crash Reports are empty

I’ve attached the most recent logs, any help would be greatly appreciated

Looking at the most recent crash log from 4/21 your other plex logs dont go back that far. Ideally a log capture just after a crash is ideal.

Hi, I’ve just logged on and found it crashed again, so I’m attaching the latest logs

Hope this reveals something helpful?

Thanks in advance
Martyn

Funny how we’re told to “try” a beta (5762) to see if it can clear the diaper that is the public release.

Sorry Plex “team,” that was satire. It’s really not funny at all. Release should be a working, thoroughly tested version, not a hastily hacked poop-ball thrown at the wall to see what stinks. 5761 should have worked like a champ, what with getting rid of all that pesky unmonetized podcast facility, and the massive software resource savings realized by it’s excision.

Truly award winning software, if that award includes giant raspberry sounds and absolute peer disdain.

I want to say keep up the good work, but I’ll just leave it at work. Just do it.

Shocker! 5762 server crashes also! What were the odds . . .

I’ve also been having issues with Plex Media Server crashing (I’m also on Windows 10). For the past month and a half, it was getting pretty frequent (daily). After the last Media Server version (I’m currently on v1.26.0.5715), it has decreased in frequency to every few days.

Does anyone have a good understanding of how to interpret the Media Server Logs? I also don’t have anything showing up in Windows 10 Event Viewer, and I can’t make sense of the Plex logs myself. This is even after downloading the logs immediately after a server crash.

Any suggestions?

@murthybruit have you heard anything back about your issue? My Plex Media Server crashed twice yesterday evening (immediately after recording shows), and again once this evening after recording a show.

The plex team has been working on issues with the DVR functionality

No, I haven’t recieved any support as yet, mine wasn’t caused by using the DVR function though, I haven’t recorded anythuing for a long time

Most problems are fixed since 1.26.1.5762, especially problems of DVR. (channel-scan)

Ok, so I’ve updated to Version 1.26.1.5772, let’s see how that plays out

Thanks for the info @Olli . Once PMS 1.26.1.5762 comes out of Beta, I’ll give it a shot. Sounds like lots of DVR fixes.

So it crashed again, 9 days is better than it has been, I’ve attached the logs

I think my crashes are also related to DVR recording now.

I haven’t used the DVR function for well over a year, so not the case for me

Just found it crashed again…

The sad thing is, a lot of my friends who used to get a lot of use out of my server, have given up, on account of it’s reliability

Wouldn’t be so bad if I wasn’t paying for it, and the lack of accessible support for a paid service, really??

Yes. I love beta testing software that I am paying for (although I’m actually using the public channel for PMS - 1.26.0.5715 on Windows 10.

Here are my logs from today’s crash.

I’ll skip posting the logs for plex media server crashes on:
5/8/2022
5/2/22
5/1/22 (twice)
4/30/22
4/21/22

I think it has to do with the DVR, and maybe the commercial skip or thumbnail generation that occurs after a recording. I’m not sure because I haven’t figured out how to interpret the logs.

Mine can’t be DVR related as I never use that function, I am finding more that rather than PMS just not be running anymore, it is in an unresponsive state that needs the task killing before I can restart it

Every time when it crashed, I had to open Task Manager and kill the related processes one by one to have a chance to restart.

One repeating symptom that I can easily recognise whether it is still running or crashing is that the text on the right-click-open option-menu would be all gone like a blank one. If it is running, it would show text command of “Open Plex”, (“Tick”) “Start Plex” “Media Server at Login”, “Update Libraries”, “Cancel Library Update” (Dimmed as grey), “Check for Updates”, “About Plex Media Server”, and “Exit”.

Crashed again, logs attached…

Are any Devs even looking at this??
