Hi there,
I am running Plex media Server on MAC OS 12.3.1
Since 5th of April, Plex media server stopped reading the contents of my external drive where all my media files are store, when I want to play a film from the library I get a message saying the file cannot be found.
if I want to create a new library, when I click on adding the folder, I can see my external drive, but when I click on it, it does not display any of its folders.
I have run disk diagnostics on my external drive and there are no errors.
I can see all the directories and files on it from my Mac.
I have completely uninstalled Plex twice and deleted all the folders as per your instructions on
but that did not help.
Plex is only able to read folders on my MAC but not the external drive.
Have you configured your Mac to allow Plex to access media on that drive? → System Settings > Security > Data Protection; there should be a “Files and Folders” section where you can specify what types of volumes certain apps can access.
I have not changed any of the settings, it was working before, its been working perfectly for 2 years, it just started after the new Plex media server update… I just checked the settings you mentioned and Plex is allowed to access files and folder and external drives.
everything got deleted as of yesterday, I did a complete uninstall…
the old libraries with media contents from my external drive got deleted
I can only show you a screen print of what Plex shows as external drive
