That either means it couldn’t find the database or it’s totally corrupted. If it can’t find the database, it could be a permission issue and PMS can’t generate the database. If it’s corrupted, you can try fixing it following this guide. Repair a Corrupted Database | Plex Support
did as told ,did not find links in app. it also has removed my computor name and wont add it… i tried to remove server app but it wont remove it. i can log on to plex app,shows all user name and every thing but can not get to my files.i did a complete uninstall downed it and opened it and same thing. can not get it to to see server and also can not get a name for sever to show. this could be the problem.
Can you provide more details? I’m not sure exactly what you’ve done to tried to do. Please be clear on what programs you are referring to. The server program is Plex Media Server. The client apps could be Plex Web (if using a browser) or one of the standalone Windows apps (Plex Media Player, Plex for Windows, Plex HTPC.) Please try to be very specific in your comments so I can follow along.
i have completey removed all plex [server,plex,player] and reinstalled. same thing. this worked fine for years,after the last upgrade everything stopped. when i open the plex app it has all my information but none of my stuff.get: plex media sever was unable to open its media database.it does not show the name of my sever.i am using firefox browser.had a hard time removing sever as it had the updater running and would not shut down,had to go to running apps in windows to shut it down.
Having the same issue. Tried database repair. Tried manual database repair. Deleted database. Removed plex media server, re-installed completely fresh, same error on initial start.
tried installing old version of plex media server, get the same error. Reading other articles led me to suspect a permissions issue, so I granted “full control” to “everyone”, same problem. Everything ran fine for years without issue. Now I have no more plex server. Completely dead in the water here.
the only way i could fix my end,no help from here, was to reinstall windows 10 after an update with both plex server and windows. had to start all over as a new member and load everything. it was a major pain.had to reset everything. but working good again,as least for now.
Have you tried running it as a administrator? That is what worked for me.
