Plex Media Server Wont Start on MAC

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973-0f4abfbcc
Player Version#:

I’ve been having trouble starting my PMS recently. It was working fine for years, but now, after clicking and trying to start my PMS on MAC it just won’t open. The little symbol pops up for a very brief moment but then immediately vanishes again and won’t start.

Anyone any ideas about what this could be?

Thanks a lot folks!

Do you have any antivirus software running on your Mac?

Thanks.
I do. But I had it running before too when I didn’t have any problems with PMS. I also stopped it to test it out and it didn’t change a thing ;(

Is it Cylance?

Malewarebytes. But was running before also.

It may have updated to include a false positive now. I would minimally disable it, uninstall PMS and reinstall.

Thanks. I’ll try next. Fingers crossed.

I was watching Plex when the screen randomly froze. Since that point rebooting my iMac and downloading and installing PMS again failed to change the situation. Plex will not open and when I access my account and launch via plex.tv my server shows up as unavailable. This has never occurred before and I’m at a loss in terms of troubleshooting and resolving this issue. And no, I made no changes, have no antivirus software etc. I was watching Plex when this occurred.

My issue was caused by a corrupt database and is resolved.

Following.

This same thing happened to me recently, just after the latest update came out (and maybe something to do with macOS Catalina?). Does the icon appear in the top menu bar for a split second before disappearing?

Reinstalling and rebooting Plex Server did not work for me, next trying backup with Time Machine and system reinstall.

How did you find this out and resolve it if I may ask?
