Server Version#: 1.23.6.4881-e2e58f321
Player Version#: 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4 (Mac)
After update it never started back up so the player never reconnected to the server. After waiting and waiting, I tried to manually start up the new version. blipped open for less than a second and then went away. I tried to re-install from a fresh download… no go. So server version 1.23.6.4881-e2e58f321 is completely unusable on Mac. I think we need an emergency fix, but in the meantime, I recommend pulling that release before too many others completely wreck their Plex setup.
I’ve already had that release for some days when it was still in beta and cannot reproduce this – also not seeing a major uproar… so it seems to be more of an issue with your specific setup.
Some questions:
- On what version of macOS are you with that server of yours?
- Does the Plex Media Server show as running on your system (e.g. does the Plex icon in the macOS menu bar stay alive)?
- Could you share your server logs – given you cannot access Plex through the web interface you would need to collect/zip the files manually from
~/Library/Logs/Plex Media Server/
:- Stop the server
- Zip that entire directory (or at least the
Plex Media Server.log
and its numbered rolling versions) - Upload the resulting file here in the forum
If you don’t want to share the logs you could look for lines labelled as CRITICAL -
or ERROR -
– one potential root cause for PMS not starting could be a corrupted database (in which case you should see messages stating that the database is corrupted).

Indeed you are correct. My database is corrupted. I just I need to trash everything and start over?
You can attempt to repair it
If that doesn’t work, your best shot is to start over.
