I have been seeing strange RAM usage on my Plex service since 1.5 weeks.

All of a sudden the RAM usage just keep increasing, until the Plex service is restarted.

The graph below is showing Plex container RAM usage.

At the time of the first occurrence (marked as red arrow below), nothing was changed; no Plex or OS upgrade done. At the time running Plex 1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf.

The blue arrows are me restarting Plex service.

There’s three users in the Plex system, no influx of watch time increase and library items are pretty constant , consuming ~3TB disk space. No new libraries created in years.

All database maintenance settings in Plex are default. I have had DLNA disabled from the start (finding several posts online claiming it ca

Setup is official Plex container in Podman 4.9.3 on a physical Fedora 39, fully updated.

Upgrading Plex to latest - 1.40.1.8227-c0dd5a73e - makes no difference.

Does this happen within the scheduled time period for the server maintenance?

If it does, you may want to check your general /tmp folder.

for a few pointers.

No, it doesnt happen during the maintenance intervals (unless one is automatically kicked off on startup, that I dont know).

The memory increase happens as soon as I restart the Plex service. It doesnt matter if something is playing or not. It happens at full idle.

I dont use any transcoding, everything is direct play.
