Plex missing library

I can’t seem to give the Plex Media Server access to my user files on Windows 10. I just got a brand new laptop yesterday. There is only one user account on it - me. I downloaded and installed plex, but when I put some 1080p movies into my ‘videos’ folder, Plex would not add them to my library.

Eventually I found out that the only way I could add movies to my Plex Media Server was to move the movies to the users/public/public videos folder and then add that to Plex as a library. This seems like an unnecessarily difficult way to add videos to my library.

I did not have this problem with my last laptop. I think this problem might have something to do with Windows Permissions and Plex, but I don’t know how to rectify the problem. I ran the plex installer.exe as Administrator, but that didn’t fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Ok, thanks for your help. It turns out I was doing something else wrong when adding the library, but I got it solved now. Thanks you though
