It seems to have disappeared on my setup now - how do I get it to return please?

Plex Mix is a Plex Pass feature.
So make sure that:

  1. your server itself is signed into a plex.tv account that actually has a Plex Pass
    (Settings - Server - General)
  2. Plex Mix only works in a Premium Music library
  3. almost all Plex Pass features need the server to have a working internet connection

There is a known bug regarding PlexMix and Popular tracks. I have reported it earlier here. The bug still exists.

I got a response from the dev’s stating that they are aware of the issue @mm98 reports re Plex Mix, but that there is currently no easy fix for it. They are hopeful that it will be fixed in the future but no ETA to give.

Description:
On initial load of Artist page, the “Popular Tracks” does not contain “Play Plex Mix” in track context menu. Find the same track in Albums, and click the 3 dots … “Play Plex Mix” is visible. Go back to Artist page and “Play Plex Mix” is visible in track context menu. If you start with album and go to artist it works ok!

I moved servers and updated all of the libraries without exporting the previous settings. Previously the plex mix function worked, for some reason it doesn’t now. Not sure why.

The suggestions below … I have all of the following, unless i need to activate the premium music library?

Edit your music library.
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab
if you see Plex Premium Music Settings then you have the rigth type of music library
if you see a dropdown menu labeled Agent instead, you have the wrong type of music library.

If your music library is a Premium Library already:
Plex Mix requires a “special sauce” from Gracenote, which it only gets after it has Matched all of your music library. If you Abort the library update (or you just try to use the Plex Mix too early), the special sauce won’t be there and thus, no Plex Mix.

How do i get to the advanced tab please- i can only see settings…

mine just lists the agent as last.fm . (found it) altered it to the other setting - personal media artists. Still no change.

You can’t turn a normal music library into a Premium music library like that.
You need to create a new library.

You need to create a new music library. +

Make sure your server has an internet connection when you do it.
You will be asked whether a Premium or a ‘normal’ music library shall get created.
Point it to your files and prepare to wait a rather long time.

There is no need to erase your existing music library.
I’d keep it around at least until the Premium library works.
