Plex Mix - not available for all music albums?

Hi

I’m sorry for posting again, but I received no answers…

I have a problem with plex mix. For a lot of my albums, plex mix is not available, around 30-40%. I cannot se any differences to other albums when checking tags or file naming. So it seems Plex Mix is buggy, the PMS respectively.

I’m working with OS X 10.13.1, PMS 1.10.1.4602, using Plex Web (Firefox) 3.35.2 or Plex Player 2.4.1.787-54a020cd .
For using Plex Mix I have build new Plex Premium libraries. I also have rebuild/repaired my libraries as recommended by plex.tv.

according to the related support page, there are restrictions as to when a Plex Mix will be available or not.

sadly there’s not much of an explanation beyond there’ll be a lower probability for Plex Mix not to be available when you have a “larger library”

Thank you - but I think my library with >100.000 tracks (>6.000 albums) should be large enough :wink:
A lot of tracks are working well, some not and it’s not working for all tracks of an album

That’s the reason why I’m not a big fan of vague statement such as that note.
We know there appear to be some restrictions but it’s unclear what they are… hence hard to tell if what you see is a bug or due to some design.

It would be nice to get an answer from developers and some clarification. And if it’s a bug a soon fix

Maybe Plex mix currently does not assume that “The Lady in My Life” deserves the same attention as “Thriller” or “Billy Jean”. I have to think there is a database or algorithm that determines eligibility of any given song. For the most part, I am pleasantly surprised at some of the mixes Plex music does come up with. I find myself discovering some deep tracks that deserve to be added to a playlist. I just wish the audio leveling worked better, too disparate.

I like the PlexMix results too and I guess the algorithm is based on AcoustID or the Plex equivalent of audio fingerprinting. But it should be alowd to mix based on every song in the active library. So a better explanation from PLEX devs would maybe help to understand why up to 30% songs are not alowd as base for a PlexMix.

I‘m still waiting for a Plex Team reaction. I bought Plex Pass primary for Plex Mix and it is not working as expected for all songs

Just got Plex Pass and ran into same issue… waiting for answer as well.

@rotaflex: from where are you trying to start your Plex Mix… keep in mind you cannot start a mix from an artist or album view but only from a single track!

In my case, I always trying to start from a track. I have two problems with Plex Mix:

  1. Plex Mix is in general not available for a track, for all tracks of an affected album respectivelly
  2. Plex Mix is available but an error message pops up: “An error occurred loading items to play”. But normal playing that track is working fine

we’ve run into this before… Plex Mix is available for most songs but not all. There’s a note about this in the related support article – however it’s not describing the extent of those restrictions.
