Playlists for movies are broken for my server. I used to use the playlist function religiously. I’m a fulltime caregiver but I have to run errands for groceries etc. So when I do I have a playlist of my mom’s favorite movies, usually only 2 are needed to keep the entertainment going. It stops after one movie with an error. I have unraid and I even changed the spindown on drives from 15 mins to never. It made no difference. It used to play flawlessly. Any ideas? Anyone?
unraid 7.1.4. plex official docker container version 1.42.2.10156 (with plex pass) Intel® Core™ i5-14600K @ 3500 MHz 128gb ddr4 ram.
Which Plex client type is used?
Forgot to add that to my post. I’m currently using a Nvida Shield Pro on 77” LG OLED
is there a client better suited to playlist use? I have roku ultra and amazon 4k stick.
There is still hardly a better client than the Shield Pro.
How exactly are you going about playing a play list? i.e. which menu items and buttons are you using?
I just navigate to movies library, select playlists at the top, open “mom’s playlist”. I click the play icon on the top and off it goes. It chokes after 1 movie which sucks
I just tried this with a video playlist from my own server. The second video started as intended.
Did you configure your server machine to stop its hard drives when it’s idle?
I did, but I tried that too. I changed the setting back to never spin down. It still choked on the second movie.
Do you have any of the following activated in this client’s “Playback preferences”:
- automatic skip of credits
- automatic skip of intros
- play following videos automatically
- show extras
- skip advertisements
- show “Continue Watching” after video ends
- Slumber Stop
I’d try and disable all of these, then test the result. If you have the time, re-enable them one-by-one and see if it breaks again after enabling a specific preference.
