Movie Playlist Runtime

Hello guys,
New here. I’m part of a MSP that manages multiples networks. Recently one of our offices (Dental Office) came to us with a request/issue. About a month ago they notice the playlist they created, roughly around 20 movies, will stop playing movies after 4 hours or so. It used to be where the playlist would run for the entire day. Does anyone know why this could be or have any suggestions. Have been tried to locate a number/email to contact support for better understand but all searches lead back here to forums. I apologize if I’m on the wrong place, any help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

From what I remember you can configure Plex to automatically play the next item in a playlist. However, there’s limits to how long Plex will keep playing items without user interaction.

There’s a description of how auto-advancing of a play queue works.

From https://support.plex.tv/articles/202605013-play-queue-post-play-screen/

Auto-advance refers to the countdown timer on the Up Next item, which plays automatically once exhausted. It will be shown whenever there’s an Up Next item, except in the following circumstances:

  • If the user has opted out of auto-advance in the client preferences.
  • If videos have been playing without user intervention for more than two hours, and the video that just completed is > 20 minutes in length. In this case, the Up Next item will still be shown and selected such that a single click plays it.

Edit: I’ve closed your parallel post in another thread where you asked the same question to avoid mixed up conversations

Thank you for your reply.

Allow me a follow up question. From what I understand, after reading similar forums with the same topic, the Post-Play option doesn’t affect any user created “Playlist”. Correct?
A Playlist will continuously keep playing items within the playlist, regardless of user’s preference set on the Post Play setting.
Also, from what you’re saying. A Playlist will continue playing non-stop as long as there’s user interaction? Without user interaction the Playlist is set to stop by default? Would you happen to know that timer is?

Thank you in advance!

From the support article extract above:

Thank you,

Would you know where I would go if wanting to make suggestion?
Would like suggest for user to have the options for “Playlist” runtime to be continuous without user interaction. Sorry, I’m new to forums and Plex.

Right there:

A playlist should continue to play on it’s own without stopping. We’ll need to see the PMS and client logs when the playback stops to see if something happened. If the client lost the connection to the server, then the playback can stop.

Thank you for your reply,

Where would I submitted logs for investigation? Could I open a case file and work with Plex to see what could be happening?

Thank you for your time.

Reproduce the issue, then grab the server logs and Roku logs and post them here for me to review. Let me know the time or the video that fails to continue.
