Plex Moving movies out of collection

I recently let Plex setup collections for all my movies. the problem is now if i want to make my own collection Plex moves the movies out of in with in a day and the collection folder is empty. also if I move a movie into a collection Plex made for me it removes it the next time the library file is scanned.
this may be covered somewhere already but i cant seem to find is.
thanks
Tony

Do you have
Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’
enabled?

Disable it and keep watching the issue for a few days.

Yes it was enabled, i just disabled it.
Thank You, i will see how it works.

Thank you for your input on my issue, however it still seems to be happening…
any other suggestions would be great

Thanks

Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks
Do you have this job activated?
“Refresh local metadata every three days”

Yes it is activated.
Should i deactivate it?

Yes, please.
Do also check if the affected movies happen to be in mp4/m4v container files.

I unchecked it.
It looks like the files are mp4

Get mp3tag
and use it to check if your video files have embedded meta tags.
Particularly if the ‘Album’ meta tag has any content.

Do also compare the content of the Album meta tag to the names of the remaining collections of which the movie is still a member, after the “reset” happens.

I will try it
Thank you again

Sorry to keep bothering you but the Album section is clear on all I have looked at so far…

Is the tag really empty? Or does it contain one or several space characters? Do a double click into the field in mp3tag.

Did you set up Plex to automatically use collection info from TheMovieDB?
If you did, disable that preference for a while.
‘Refresh metadata’ on a movie, where you previously did manually change the collection. Are your manual changes now retained after the refresh?

i will try all your suggestions and see how it goes after a day or so

Thank You
