I’d like to request a feature to add to Plex. The ability for Plex server to post directly to a mqtt server for when media is playing and different metadata. Right now I’m using the mqtt feature of tautulli to trigger home automation lighting scenes and screen masking based on the aspect ratio/resolution of the movie for my home theater when playing back movies from my Nvidia shield Plex client in my theater room. It works really well but now with the history playback and notification upgrades of Plex it would be nice to have it all in one package and cut out the middle man. I know Plex can use webhooks but there is not aspect ratio metadata and most of the home automation platforms out there still need a third-party tool to translate the webhooks payload. Mqtt is simple and can post only the info you want and it’s really fast no need to parse the webook info to get what you want.
