I’m running Plex Media Server on my QNAP NAS. There I store all my music like /Interpret/Album/Tracks. All music files are in .wav format.
My problem I’m facing is, that e.g. Coldplay has some tracks in the album Music of the spheres, where other artist play together with them. And if I go to the library, all tracks with “feat” musicians are missing:
As Agent and Scanner I’m using Plex Music.
What am I doing wrong? Is there any setting helping me to show all tracks belonging to an album and that are stored in the corresponding folder?
Copy the metadata from the WAV version into the FLAC versions. (you can use mp3tag for this)
Ensure that all tracks are tagged with an AlbumArtist tag with “Coldplay” as content – even on the collaboration tracks. (AlbumArtist is a separate tag from the regular Artist tag)
Perform the Plex Dance “light” (i.e. omitting step 4) with the whole album

Thank you for your feedback. But I hoped not to convert my whole library, especially because wav is a fine working high quality music format.
All other tracks and information are displayed in a proper way. I thought Plex would get information from the Agent with Meta Information as well. And everything should lead to the point, that the tracks in the same folder belong to the same album, shouldn’t it?
Isn’t there a solution keeping the music files as wav?

Disable the automatic and periodic library scans in Plex.
Try the Plex Dance light with this albumt.
See if there is a change.
The main issue is that Plex cannot read metadata from WAV files.
Another issue is that you could save some hard drive space by using the FLAC format, while keeping the quality of your music perfectly indentical (FLAC is lossless).
Just try it. Start with the albums which give you trouble. There is no need to convert everything at once.

If converting the complete library is the only solution, I will have to stay using the “Folder” view when brwosing the library
Do you know if there is a reason, why Plex does support playing wav files but not reading meta information from wav files? Or is there an agent when scanning the library looking on folder names and structure similar to series, so that meta information are not needed? Because Plex seems to use some of the metadate… it knows about Artist or Album and such things. But it does not display all Songs contained in an album if there is another feat. artist performing in a song.
