Over the last 15 years I have painstakingly edited the metadata for all of my music to exactly how I want it. I want to 100% use metadata from my tracks, not Plex or any of its services. I have made sure “Prefer local metadata” is checked as well as for Genres “Embedded Tags” and Album Art I select “Local files only.
I have a specific tag in every single album title that I absolutely want to show up in Plex, which is why I am using local metadata. The tag I have in my album titles are {CD} or {Vinyl}. I absolutely need this tag to show up because I have duplicate albums with different sources and I want to be able to immediately and quickly identify which version of the album I want to play.
For a lot of my albums it does actually show this tag in the album. But for some it does not show this tag and I do not understand why. I have verified the metadata of my files that this is not working for and everything is perfect as it should be.
Why is Plex not using all local metadata and what can I do to fix this? The albums in question that this is not working for I believe I used in a previous test on Plex to see how my albums would show up, at that time I did not have the {vinyl} tag included in the album title metadata. I have cleaned my bundles and optimized my database numerous times, could the past use of these albums still be lingering around in the plex database?
