Generally speaking… the closer you can stick to the naming schema proposed by Plex, the better your overall experience should be. The addition of a year to the album folder name might be a small enough deviation not to have a significant impact – so if it’s working for you, go ahead.
If albums are not getting matched you can still perform a manual fix-match from within Plex or drop the year before doing another attempt of cataloging that album.
I have the former structure (with year) and it’s worked fine since the beginning. Way back in the beginning, they didn’t have a specific structure for music. Somewhere it was posted to have the former to match movies, then it changed.
