This is not the behaviour I’ve observed, nor is it expected, and is contrary to that observed by others:
Following a Refresh All Metadata on PMS version 1.23.0.4459 - Anathema - Serenades (1993) is now correctly using Peaceville. Several other albums, including the other two Anathema albums above, are still attributed by Plex with inaccurate record labels.
A particularly egregious example is Music on Vinyl (re-issue imprint with earliest release in MusicBrainz from 2009) which Plex has used for the following:
- David Bowie - Hours (1999)
Original release: 1999-10-05 - US - Virgin
Files tagged with: 2004 - XE - Columbia - Jeff Buckley - Grace - (1994)
Earliest release: 1994-08-15 - GB - Columbia
Original release: 1994-08-23 - US - Columbia
Files tagged with: 1994-08-23 - US - Columbia - Alice Cooper - The Last Temptation (1994)
Earliest release: 1994-06-23 - JP - Epic
Original release: 1994-07-12 - US - Epic
Files tagged with: 1994 - XE - Epic - Faith No More - Introduce Yourself (1987)
Original release: 1987 - US - Slash
Files tagged with: 1990 - AU - Liberation Records - Opeth - Damnation (2003)
Earliest release: 2003-04-07 - AU - Music for Nations
Original release: 2003 - XE - Music for Nations
Files tagged with: 2003-04-14 - GB - Music for Nations
Other noticeably dubious record labels used by Plex include Back on Black, Icarus Music and Mazzar Records.
