Plex Music Tour Dates

Can you tell me exactly how Plex Music gets the Tour information? I only ask because what gets listed has no relation to real time fact.

concert dates are provided by songkick.com

Sorry guess I worded it wrong. Lets try my question this way? On my list there is never any more than one Tour date listed and it is usually a location in Europe that gets listed. The only time it’s the U.S. is when there is no date in Europe. Now I checked their website and they have tons of dates available for most artists all over the world but Plex for some reason only show one entry regardless of how many are listed on the site.

That’s an interesting observation.
I will enquire internally about this.

I just replicated this. I just created a new premium library with concert info turned on. After it completed, I looked at one artist, Diana Krall. Plex shows one upcoming concert date, in France (so it’s not limited to my area). Songkick lists 27 upcoming events in Europe and the US.

Similar results for 3 or 4 other artists.

Thanks “beckfield” glad to see it not happening to just me. I will wait to see what the Plex folks come up with. – Randy

Hey -

I looked at a Diana Krall and it appears to be working correctly in the sense that it is showing her next concert. I understand it would be more ideal to show an upcoming local show, but we don’t have user or server locations to narrow down that info.

That said - we could look into showing more than one concert at a time. If you are seeing something other than the next concert and we are only showing Europe, then that could be a bug.

That does appear to be the way it is working. In my case, it is showing the next upcoming show for several artists, and I am getting US as well as European events.

I just created this library out of curiosity when I saw this thread. I’ve had it turned off in my regular library for some time, but I’m almost certain that it used to show more than just the next concert.

If I were using the feature, I don’t think it would be very useful to me to know only the next concert. If I’m interested in getting tickets, I generally need to know months in advance. It would be best to show everything Songkick has, or, as you mentioned, some way to filter for shows in my area.

I would find the results listed to be geared to my location most useful. I would even accept listing the multiple dates by month to reduce the number of immediate reads as long as there is an option to advance the listing to a future month of my choice. Of course the ability to specify a location would be required also. Could be done by state, state/city, state/zip code(s) with a radius feature of “xxx” miles.

I’m not sure if this is a regression or if the integration just isn’t very reliable, but this hasn’t been true in my experience over the last 6 months or so. On 24 Feb I checked the artist page for Vince Staples and it had a tour date weeks in the future, despite there being a show that night in my town. I confirmed the show was on songkick (I’m a regular user there as well), so it’s a mystery. Same story Jan 30th with Run the Jewels.

Concert dates are updated during the nightly maintenance time window. If your server is not (always) running (or has no internet connection) during that time, it may get some dates never or no dates at all.

@OttoKerner I’ve gotta say I don’t think that’s it.

It lives in a colocation facility and (to my knowledge) has never had an internet outage.

Since it never shows dates in Australia, can I just turn this feature off?

Edit your library, go to the Advanced tab. There should be a checkbox there.

Under the Last.fm settings there is a “Download Concert Information” checkbox which has no effect on the Songkick data. That was all I could find that was related in the Advanced tab.

This checkbox will only suppress the download of concert info in the future. It will not immediately erase all already downloaded data.

So that was the setting - despite referring to a different data provider?

Is there anything to suppress the display? It will look pretty silly having perpetual old far-off concerts in my library.

Only concert dates in the future are displayed. As the data run out, fewer and fewer concerts will appear.
