Plex “mutes” volume with Play/Pause button for only TV Shows on Apple Tv

Was hoping to upload my small vid, but couldn’t. For some reason, on Apple TV, and only on TV shows categories, the Play/Pause on the Apple Remote mutes the volume and the video keeps playing.

I also want to note that it’s not a true “mute”, as my receiver doesn’t actually mute. So maybe a better way to say this is that when pressing the button, the volume goes away and the video keeps playing. Pressing it again doesn’t do anything. Video keeps playing and volume is still gone.

The only way to bring the volume back is rewind by 10 seconds or back out and play the video again.

I also want to note that this is only happening on TV category shows I’m watching. The button works as expected with movies, so that’s what is confusing me more.

The remote does work fine with other apps. I’ve rebooted my Plex server, the Apple TV, and checked for updates, but none as of right now.

I’ve never observed this behavior.
Before digging deeper into this… would you mind upgrading the Plex app on your Apple TV? Version 7.9 is rather ancient (it’s been released 3 years ago in October 2020)… the latest version is 8.26.

Wow, really? I have updates on for Plex and maybe once a month it asks about updating and I always select “tonight”. I wonder if all this time it’s never actually updated. That seems to be the case, I guess

So updating Plex did appear to fix my issue. Thank you, and I apologize for not having it updated. I would’ve bet my life it WAS updating all these years, but I guess not.
