Plex Naming

I’ve just reinstalled PMS after having to wipe and reinstall Windows 10. Prior to wiping the OS Plex was running perfectly and all movies were named correctly on the dashboard. However, now some movies seem to be displaying information held in the local metadata even though | have placed Local Media Assets as the last agent to use. This happens whether Local Media Assets is checked or unchecked. My file structure is: drive letter:\Video\Movie Name (Year)\Movie Name.ext. Plex also won’t download some of the poster images now where before all movies had an image when searching. This is the same file structure that worked previously and I’ve tried completely deleting and importing the library several times. It appears that in the time I deleted the and reinstalled Windows there has been a PMS update so is this an issue with the new version or am I missing something else? I’ve copied everything I did when I initially set up the library first time round but it’s not working this time and other than going through nearly 9 TB of files to check if there is any local metadata I’m at a loss as to how to fix it.

your structure is slightly wrong. It should be:
drive letter:\Video\Movie Name (Year)\Movie Name (Year).ext

Just because wrong file naming worked in the past does not mean it will work now or in the future.

I do not know if that slight change will make a difference but it can’t hurt.

What’s the best renaming program? When ripping my DVDs and Blurays I manually named the file so that it would adhere to the structure above. I had read in previous searches for advice that the year didn’t matter in the file name as long as the the parent folder was named Movie Name (Year) so I don’t really want to have to go through 9 TB of files to add the year to the filename. I did use TheRenamer for some things but that doesn’t work in Windows 10 now since the Creator’s update.

If you are using Windows then FileBot is by far the best.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll post again if I need any more help.
