My plex installation has for the past number of months had the issue that it never stops scanning either the Movies or TV Shows library.
Mostly I have to cancel the scanning and then it moves to the other library and scans there forever.
I have noticed that when I take a look at -> Status -> Alerts that it scan the
17:11 Scanning Plex/Application Support/Plex Media Server forever and forever.
But I find that really weird since there is a .plexignore in the “Aplication Support” directory ? (And i have added one in the “Plex Media Server” library as well to no avail).
Tried restarting my NAS (Synology) which is where the Plex server runs with no difference.
Have looked at the other topics and none of them seems to be exactly the same error.
Did you place media in the Plex share?
Did you list it as a place to look for media?
If you have, this is incorrect usage. The Plex share is for PMS usage only.
I made it accessible so everyone can more readily add plug-ins and manually get logs without resorting to the shell and SSH.
To begin with. It has worked flawlessly for more than 1-2 years.
The movies / Tv shows libraries are both in the “Plex/Library” folder as they had been for the past number of years. (BTW where do i verify where those libraries are pointing to ?)
Application Support are also in the “Plex/Library/Application Support”. Have not made any changes that I can remember.
Have lots of Movies and TV Shows in the Plex client (just like I have had for the past couple of years) just don’t really know know if new stuff gets picked up anymore !
And scanning continues forever ! So when i start a scan in the movies library it continues forever. It detects and goes through the “numbered” tv shows (like 12 monkeys) and then it hits the “Application Support” folder and stays there seemingly forever.
When i cancel scanning either Movies and TV Shows it does the same thing hit the “Application Support folder” and scans forever.
It does not get “stuck on a single file” or shows me that nothing is being scanned. No it scans like crazy but forever in the application support folder ?
