I’d like to see volume limiting or normalization options added to plex. It would be especially useful if we could schedule the limits to create a Plex Night Mode, and per device/user limits would also be nice since some users or device setups will tend to be the main abusers of volume.
Why would you need to control this centrally?
Because children and old people don’t realize how loud they are being, so it would be useful to limit how loud they can be. Have you ever noticed some people listen to TV much louder than others? Most of them don’t actually need to turn the sound up that loud to hear, they just aren’t aware of how loud they are being or perhaps even have some loss of hearing.
While it may be convenient for them to crank it to 11, it’s not convenient for everyone else in the house. There is no good way to limit sound from a standard stereo or TV usually, but Plex could do it if the admin went to each device/room and set the max volume using like a software preamp or effectively volume boost in reverse. Then you could ‘tune’ the room to the loudest you think anyone needs to turn up a movie. Like a slider for volume that went up and down would do it.
I suppose I don’t need central control so much as control of some kind, but I guess since Plex already doesn’t do much with sound levels I’m probably mostly out of luck. I think plenty of people also fall asleep to the TV and if Plex could turn the volume down a set amount after a certain time, that would be useful too. Night mode is all the rage these days 
Not a big deal, but it would be a nice feature.
