Yes indeed, it’s much less work than the manual way… when it works.
And in fact it is working but is doing the 32-bit instead of the 64-bit.
Are you trying this on a Windows 7 machine? If so, it will never work with 64 bit.

So currently I have to:
- See notification that new update is available
- Download update
- go into
<Plex Media Server Folder>\Updatesand find update - Install update
- Restart PMS
This is in comparison to what I used to do on x86:
- See notification update is available
- Download update
- Install from same web screen (Plex would handle the rest)
So I reverted to x86 and that seems to fix this issue.
