Server Version#:
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.16.2
Not sure about Server Version, and I hope I have the Player Version properly.
The setup is quite seamless. I have a decent amount of TV Shows that I want to setup, currently have been using iTunes and AppleTV for streaming. One thing I have done is isolate (rename) a bunch of Christmas episodes for various TV Shows so that I can have a playlist at Christmas time. Essentially what I did was copy the file, and rename it to a TV Show called “Christmas TV Shows” and manipulated the metadata / tagging so they’d be organized that way. There are a total of about 37 episodes, and it’s all within the same parent folder as the rest of my TV Data. When I add to Plex, only 7 of the episodes make it in. I can’t seem to find a difference in any naming methodology, or any obvious commonality to the 7 shows. Is there a way to manually add a single episode? Or any tips at all?
Plex relies heavily on folder / file naming and structure; moving arbitrary episodes from various TV shows and lumping them into a single folder will not work like you intend.
A better way would be to 1) follow the folder/file structure and naming rules outlined in the support article (below) and then 2) create a Playlist from the TV Show library by adding the desired episodes to a (new) custom holiday playlist. You can do this from your web browser (see the second support article below and scroll down to “Add to Playlist”)
