Plex not detecting some new TV shows I added

Can anyone help with this please?

It has been working until now but wont find Dexter and Sons of Anarchy. Jellyfin finds both but for sone reason lists “Dexter” as “Dolly”

folder structure for both is:

/media/tv/dexter/season 01/dexter - s01e01

Habe tried changing to dexter (2006) but still the same. Never experienced this before. Have rebooted the server to restart the services and manually scanned the library. Logs show the folder being scanned but nothing appears in library for either Dexter of SoA, but both do appear in Jellyfin.

Running latest version of plex server on latest version of ubuntu LTS (cant remember the specific numbers but I did run an update on the server and the scanner was working fine).

  1. Ensure that only the folder /media/tv has been added to the Plex TV show library.
  2. if the files are in mp4/m4v format, disable “Prefer local meta tags” in the properties of the library, on the Advanced tab. Then perform the Plex Dance with the Show.

And yes, the folder name is supposed to be “Dexter (2006)” because there are other shows with similar titles: dexter — The Movie Database (TMDB)

Here’s an example of a working file structure. Yours looks more-or-less ok assuming, as OttoKerner suggests, that your TV shows library points to /media/tv.

Thanks for the responses. I managed to figure it out - for some reason there was no file extension in the name, I must have removed it somehow. Adding this fixed the issue!

For referenece, the file structure is precisely as pshanew showed.
