Plex not importing all my music (only 7229 of 93420)

I’m importing my music library into plex and strangely only 7,229 songs are begin imported from a music library of 93,420 songs. By way of comparison, Emby imports all of them, and my local music player, Clementine, sees all 93420.

It’ been a few days days and the sync has stopped. At first I thought maybe it just takes a long time, but I’ve restarted the sync a number of times.

Any ideas?

Would you mind sharing some more details?
How are those files organized within the folder(s) linked to your music library?
I’m not quite sure what you mean by “sync” in this context.

the files are stored as:
A
ABBA
Best of
{songs}
B
Bjork
{Albums]
{songs}

By sync I mean import songs into the Plex Library. Sorry, wrong terminology.

Are you pointing your library to the individual letter folders (A, B…)? IIRC Plex can be picky when it comes to folder structures. What format are those songs – the regular flac, mp4/m4a, mp3… or some other fancy formats?

most of the files are in the FLAC format, and a few in mp3.

Plex Music library points to a folder called “music” and all the music is contained within. See screenshot.

I forgot to mention. This is a relatively new install on Linux (a few weeks old), and I previosuly was on Windows 10, with the same structure and it worked fine - meaning all 90k songs imported correctly).

In that case you might want to verify permissions and make sure the system user running your Plex Media Server can see all those files.

Well, Plex “sees” 7k of the songs and they’re all with the same folder/subfolders. I also don’t have this problem with movies, tv, photos which are all in the same parent folder.

I checked permissions and they are correct. Plex can even delete a song from the hard drive.

I’m really at a loss here.

Would you hit “Scan files” again, let it complete, then download the logs please?

I’d like to look and see if anything obvious is jumping out.
