Plex not picking up subtitles in subfolders. (TV Shows and Movies)

Hi,

Not sure when this issue started happening, but for newly added shows and movies, subtitles downloaded externally are not getting picked up by Plex. The subtitles are placed in a subfolder along with the TV Show/Movie.

/TVShowName/Season 1/subtitles/
/MovieName/subtitles/

If I place the subtitles directly alongside the episode or movie, Plex has no issue picking it up. It’s only when the subtitles are in a subfolder that the issue happens. I have tried analyzing and refreshing metadata to no avail.

AFAIK, Plex does not and never has supported having subtitles in their own subdirectory.

All my subtitles are placed in a “subtitles” directory ever since I started using Plex, and if I go to older shows and movies, I can see the external subtitles just fine.

One thing I noticed is that for these older shows and movies, if I analyze and refresh the metadata, the external subtitles in the dropdown get removed.

Maybe you used SubZero before.
Anyway, subtitles in a subfolder were never officially suported.

Yes I did, and I disabled it after switching to Bazarr. I guess I need to keep it on alongside Bazarr.
