Plex not playing ANY files with ANY Sub selected

I never used to have an issue. Not sure if it started with one of the LG updates or not, as I don’t use subs that often. I get the PLAYBACK ERROR. No issues on any other device. This is on a G4.

I also have an LG G4, and am getting the same problem. Selecting any type of subtitles on any file will cause ‘Unexpected playback error’.

Will try and get logs at the weekend, but clearly there is something wrong here

When you pull the log files…

  1. Ensure Plex Media Server is configured for debug, not verbose, logs.
    Settings → server_name → General + Show Advanced.
    See Reporting Issues with Plex Media Server.

  2. Stop Plex, wait 30 seconds.
    Start Plex, wait two minutes.
    This ensures the startup sequence is logged.

  3. In the Plex LG app, configure it to send debug logs to the server.
    See Smart TV Logs.

  4. Then re-create the problem, pull & post the log files.

The extra steps will help the Plex team figure out what is happening.

This is a long standing issue (at least half a year). Only thing that worked for me is downgrading my plex server to version 1.40.1.8227

The newer versions are all broken on my LG C4

If any are still having this issue with current server please get the logs as outlined above.
